I had a problem with shutting down on Windows 7, Infact I got so lazy I just put it into "Sleep" mode now, but that comes with other problems such as my computer randomly turning on at night.

    GW,
WIN key (that's the one with funny-looking wavy flag on it)
    type MSCONFIG
    hit Enter

    Go to the Startup tab
Uncheck everything that's not from Microsoft or Intel
    Reboot your computer

    Is problem gone?

Oh yes, don't worry. You can go back to that StartUp tab and recheck to slowly locate the offender.

    GW2,
    Purpose is to fault-isolate.

If after, and only after, disabling the unneeded startup programs, the problem still exists, then run in Safe Mode. If safe mode takes the problem away, then you've got a driver problem.

the slowdown is gone now. my only issue now is the crashing. and i cant reproduce the circumstances for that in safe mode.

OK. That's good because if you can't reproduce the crash in safe mode, then most probobly causes are: one or more of your drivers needs to be updated or you have a piece of hardware that it not Win7 compatible.

    WIN key | DEVMGMT.MSC | Enter key
Do you see any yellow question marks or red Xs?
