    Maybe some sort of clock throttling? I think it was called SpeedStep for P4...

    Based upon this site BIOS Updates for VIA chipsets motherboards there are numerous versions of that mobo from *just* Sapphire- I suggest you make sure you know which one is the *actual* board you have....

    And then read the section about (if) the CPU is locked you cannot change the speed....

    hmmm, I think I just need to change the clock multipier to 21 133x21=2798 or something witch matches the normal speed but sadly my stupid bios doesnt have the clock ratio/multipier setting *sigh* so I'm trying to flash and update my bios to latest so I might get that setting

    any suggestion guys?

hey all, just a comment about intel pentium d processors. i know that these are old and lots of bad are said about them but i have several desktops with them in and have never had any problems with them at all. all of them seem to idle in the 50s and under load with prime 95 from 60 to 70 degrees...

So I might be getting a older computer for free from my school. It has 3GBs of ram and Windows 7 32bit. I was wondering would it be better to run Vista Home Premium or XP Pro or just stick with Windows 7.

My pc has a intel pentium 4 in it and I JUST enabled Hyper threading does ht help performance or no? My specs are old I KNOW dont say so please! :) Specs Pentium 4 3GHZ 4gb ram 1tb hdd everything else doesnt matter so question is does ht help or no?
