hi tbone, welcome to the forums if nobody has said it already, technically, you dont need most of those, but it depends what you have open, just a quick look through i can see that itunes helper google toolbar can be stopped straight away, just hit end process on task manager, HP advisor and HP remote can be stopped too i would guess, if they are configured to start with your pc you can stop them by typing msconfig into your start menu, and opening it, then click the startup tab, technically the only thing you need from msconfig is the Microsoft Windows Operating system | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate X64 SP1 CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz Motherboard Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz Memory 8GB 1333Mhz DDR3 Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 Sound Card Realtek Monitor(s) Displays Acer Al1980, Screen Resolution 1360*768 Keyboard Alba USB Mouse IT Works Wireless USB PSU 750W Novatech Case Novatech ATX Case Cooling Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Hard Drives 500GB SATA WBC

I would recommend you clean up your startups rather than messing with the processes. You apparently have a lot of useless startups running. Go into msconfig and disable everything except your AV and those startups that you have set yourself.
BTW: what you are showing us is not the whole story because you do not show the processes from all users (the button on the bottom of the Task Manager window) | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway - 2 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista and Windows7, sometimes Ubuntu and Fedora CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to 2.5GHz Quad Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse terrible devices, who wants them Hard Drives 5x HDD, 2x SSD, 6x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

got to agree with WHS there is alot of crap there, go to msconfig and disable everything from startup apart from Windows, your AV and firewall (if you have one) as already advised | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate X64 SP1 CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz Motherboard Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz Memory 8GB 1333Mhz DDR3 Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 Sound Card Realtek Monitor(s) Displays Acer Al1980, Screen Resolution 1360*768 Keyboard Alba USB Mouse IT Works Wireless USB PSU 750W Novatech Case Novatech ATX Case Cooling Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Hard Drives 500GB SATA WBC

Just a little hint. This program (startup tab) will be a lot easier to deal with the startups. And you can size the window to your needs. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway - 2 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista and Windows7, sometimes Ubuntu and Fedora CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to 2.5GHz Quad Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse terrible devices, who wants them Hard Drives 5x HDD, 2x SSD, 6x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

When you disable the items using msconfig, remember to leave rocket doc or you will loose it on reboot. Why do software companies insist on making their software run on startup. Causes so many slow boots and slow downs. | My System Specs | | OS Win7 7600 x64 Memory 8gig Graphics Card Nvidia Monitor(s) Displays dual wide screen 22inch each Hard Drives 2x 500gig |
