Performance Has Changed To Performance Moniter

I am going through sql server 2005 implemetation and maintenance book.

On chapter 15 it is going through useing performance moniter. which was about long before windows 7.

Now ive got up to specifying my counters but i cannot find options to:

1. Set the inteval to one second.
2. Specify which user to run counter logs and enter the users password
3. Leave the log files and schedules tabs at their defaults - (dont even know what this means)

Any ideas how to do these?

Thanks.

In Reliability and Performance Monitor, Click on Performance Monitor ont he left pane, then right click it and "New" > "Data Collector Set". Run through the Wizard, here you can give a name and set the user to run as and enter the password. You will hen see it under "Data Colector Sets" ion the left pane, you can right click go to properties to see the other settings.

I set up some performance counters using the data collector wizard to monitor paging activity on my computer. Attached are the results.

Type perfmon in the search area of the start menu, then click it at top.

Right click user defined to create new data collector set.

The wizard will guide you through the process.
