    DVD Drive not reading CD's

    Hi Everyone,

I have noticed that my DVD Drive is unable to read any of my CD's but all my DVD's are read perfectly by the drive. I have enabled AHCI and installed Intel Rapid Storage drivers post that. What seems to be the problem? Is it because of AHCI? Are there anyone who faces the same thing after enabling AHCI?

I cant deny the fact that my read write and boot performance have improved a lot after enabling AHCI. Valuable suggestions and feedback really appreciated.

    Regards

Do you have any virtual drive software installed?

Have you deleted any of you upper or lower filters?

Go to this location in your registry

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

In the right hand pane, delete you UpperFilters, and LowerFilters.

Reboot and see if the problem is resolved.

You might install ImgBurn, free burning software. In the setting you will find something like "Filter Order" I have the program installed on the other system right now.

But, this will show all of your upper and lower filters.

What burning programs do you have installed and did your drive stop working for CD discs after you have installed any burn programs????

Those kinds of information will greatly help solve your problem.

You might want to show what filters are on your system before you just delete them all.

Good chance that your Drive is just dying on you anyways. They are now one of the lest expensive components to any system.

Nero Lite Essentials is my burning software. I will install ImgBurn and check the filter order, will post a scrnshot as well.

It would be helpful if you can give me an idea about this Upper and Lower filters. What are they meant for? How is related to the reading of a CD ROM?

electrotune => Is it safe to delete the filters from the registry?

    Thanks for your replies guys
