Controller Chip help?
Hey all.
My laptop has been having trouble for the last while, such as becoming crippingly slow when I play music files or random Blue Screens. I had Windows XP on it when the symptoms started. So then my boss, who's an IT Expert diagnosed my machine with a Hard Drive Controller chip fault.
A chip on the mobo - great.
Anyway, I installed Windows 7 x64 in a dual boot with XP a week or two ago and It seems to be running pretty fine - no corruption, music errors only happening rarely and no blue screens so far!
But then my Windows XP install decides to corrupt for no reason. :/
I repair installed and it was all ok - but then the next day, it corrupts again.
I want to know, if Windows 7 is working alright, then should I just remove the XP partition and dedicate the entire drive to 7? Or if that's not the case - what can I do about the controller chip? I'm only 16 and haven't much cash for a new system - and soldering is out of the question.
Please, what should I do?
I'll rep you if you help!
