Well, I don't really care about the details... the fact is - the OP has problems with his rig when he copies things. If the facts doesn't add up, but still "understandable", I'd ignore it. BUT the fact that he said it's consuming 4-6GB of memory, that's totally bull crap.
My thinking is that he is affiliated with the software package he is touting and might be posting some misleading information to convince others they too have a problem and should also buy the software he is peddling.

Since his file copy times seem to be way off what is likely possible, I highly doubt his RAM usage is accurate as well. That's the point I am making.
Most definitely do not have any affiliation with them, simply sharing my experience after months of frustrations with explorer as it may benefit other users, that's what forums are for aren't they ???

I have spent countless hours monitoring the system with every tool available and it all just leads back to explorer itself which hogs up huge amounts of memory. It may have to do with the SSD drive itself as this is where the page file resides I've just given up trying to find the solutions since I found DOpus.

I was able to move 15 files with a total size of 27 Gb from one drive to the next in a matter of 2 minutes
Wait a second...I cannot believe I didn't catch this the first time.

27GB in 2 minutes is 13.5GB a minute. 13,500MB divided by 60 seconds per minute is 225MB/s. What type of hard drives are you using to get that kind of performance??????

I'm sorry but there is something wrong with your facts and figures.
Typo guys ... sorry ... 12 minutes not 2. Whereas with explorer this could stretch well over 30 minutes and still leave explorer hogging memory for a good 5-10 minutes thereafter. Have update "facts" in original post.

I think I'd be concerned 'bout finding your real problem rather than typo's...

    Absolute rubbish IMO> completely untrue.
I've been in computing since Dos 1.0, have been through every flavour of windows and was professionally involved in the industry for many years. This is most definitely the problems (not rubbish by any means) I am experiencing and I have spent countless hours trying to isolate what is causing it and it all leads back to Windows Explorer itself.

I've tried a number of specific hotfixes from Microsoft that ever so slightly relate to this, none of them worked. I've tried just about every other tweak and fix imaginable with no improvement. I've given up looking for a solution right now as the DOpus app has solved that problem for me and I honestly do not have much time to spend on the problem anymore. I am not the only person running x64 that has experienced this problem, I have found a number or topics regarding this without any solution. Granted it may not be happening to 99% of users but that does not mean the bug/problem does not exist because it sure does and perhaps for those few that are experiencing this same problem my solution may just help them to get on with what they need to be doing instead of wasting time trying to look for a MS solution.

The thing is, this system flies, everything works like a charm except for the problems I have had with Windows Explorer. I have no problems with any application on my system whatsoever, no crashes of any sort, no performance problems of any sort, rock solid stable system. I would indeed like to find a solution because it bugs me to no end but I honestly do not have much more time to spend on it as my current workaround by dumping Explorer is working the trick for me.

raving mad, your issue is NOT NORMAL, have you took a look into your Resource Monitor when the transfer is going? What spikes in Memory tab, Disk tab, and Processor tab? I don't have your problem, several forum member doesn't have your problems, there's gotta be something wrong with your rig, either it's software conflict, or a malfunctioning driver, or whatever... Check Resource monitor, it will show you a lot.

What does annoy me is the way windows copies files. It doesnt copy them straight from place A to place B as you might expect but rather copies them from place A to place B then place C which tends to fragment the drive.
