page file only on system drive. is it okay?

    page file only on system drive. is it okay?


    is it okay to activate page file only on C: drive? what's the disadvantage?

    The page file will work fine on C drive. The advantages of having it on another drive is to reduce disk access when using applications.

    Its ok, but not ideal.

    If you have the pagefile set with variable min/max settings then it will likely cause fragmentation of the drive slowing the access times up after a while. Ideally you want the pagefile on its own hard drive if you can afford that or on a dedicated partition on a second hard drive.

    Ive moved both pagefile and indexing off c: drive to help alleviate useage of c:.

    You only need 1 page file if you boot from just the 1 hard drive.

    You only need one pagefile and it can be anywhere you desire.

    okay, I just put one pagefile on C: which is in my Seagate80GB(contains C: & D: )
    and another one on I: which is in my Seagate160GB(contains I: & J: ). That's what u guys mean, isn't it?

    Pagefile on a second partition on the same HDD is no advantage. Then let it on your C: partition.

    If you have a second HDD it is a small advantage to put it there.... if u don t have two HDDs... let it on C:
