Just upgraded to an SSD, now the lowest point is the cpu, but still a fine enough system for me.

Don't you just hate it when your CPU is the thorn in your side - Show Us Your WEI (2)

For a while, I had a GeForce GT 220 as a stop gap upgrade to my previous GeForce 7950 GT until I got something else. About a week ago, I purchased a barely used Radeon HD 3870 from eBay for about $50 including shipping. Now my Graphics and Gaming Graphics got bumped up from about 4.7 and 6.0 respectively to 7.0 for both. I am very pleased with this new video card. I know it's a few generations old but it runs all my games very well and for $50, I don't think I can beat the performance I'm getting. Also, the card runs rather cool at about 38 - 41 C when idle and about 60 - 65 C under load.

Good score for a 512 card, just proves that the X8XX cards are superior to the X6XX and X7XX cards. (My HD 4670 512MB only scored 6.7).

Depends on drivers. Also performance wise the 3870 is the better card.

Hi all, I just discovered a little tweak for ATI Crossfire users and thought I would share it here.(May be common knowledge).
I Have 2 identicle Sapphire HD 5770's amd when I read up on how to configure the Crossfire I read that for 2 graphics cards just 1 Crossfire bridge was required and that 2 bridges was for 3 or more cards. Well I read today that some users were using 2 Crossfire bridges on 2 card setups and this gave a small increase in performance, Since both my cards came with Crossfire bridges I decided to give it a go.
There was a great increase in performance as far as available graphics memory was concerned. Even the Passmark Benchmark score improved, although only slightly where I would have expected, Perhaps this is due to a recent reinstall of Windows?
    Here are the results:
    Attachment 138850Attachment 138851
    Attachment 138852Attachment 138853
I really didn't expect the results, and although it hasn't affected the WEI any I thought it was worth posting the info.
Just did the maths, it gives my 2 X 1024MB (2048MB) + 2803MB System RAM an extra 1036MB RAM from the system Memory, That's another graphics cards worth of memory. Shame it's DDR2 though and not DDR3. Maybe on the next reincarnation of this build!

It is a pretty safe hobby though, as long as your doing it to better the performance for your needs and not just to get the best WEI, As long as you don't commit crime to get the money for upgrades your conscience should be clear.
    Happy improvements.

Not sure a 6 core CPU is going to give you what you want.

    I am @ 7.3
