nice idea, ErnieN, but i eventually found the solution.

it turned out to be due to the fact that i installed the ultimate N version of windows 7, which doesn't come with windows media player.

and guess what, wei needs a component of media player to perform its tests.

solution - either don't install ultimate N in the first place, or download the media feature pack from microsoft.

bit sloppy of m$ to not notice this unwanted side effect...

Thanks for the post-back mm, that could be the source of quite a few of "these issues".

Anybody have any experience with PC Pitstop PC Matic? If so what video cards get you into the "Top 1%"?

There seems to be a bug in it too. The one thing it wants me to do is update my Audio driver to 6.0.1.6037, but according to device manager, my Audio driver is already at 6.0.1.6037. Since I can't fix that problem my "Tweak" is stuck at 4%. Also the CPU should score 12015, but it looks like it is capped out at 10000.

Yeah, I know my Internet speed sucks. But I'm going through two switches and a dedicated internet sharing PC...

Edit: Never mind. I found that I can get my GTX295's in the 3D Video "Top 1%" by simply setting my Desktop video bit level to 16 bit instead of 32 bit. Yeah it's cheating, but those green bars look better.

    Howdy!

    You've seen this right?

If you need to create a specific partition size at Step Three you just add the size in MBs like this ...

    "create partition primary 51200MB" <enter> 50GB

You're right, you don't want to do a "clean all" on a drive with data on it, clean all over-writes the whole drive but the "wipe" option (Option Two) using the Partition Wizard boot disk does well and will do a single volume/partition.
As you said though, you've already done the install.

i'm not quite sure what you're driving at ted, the windows installer (with the 'custom advanced' option) allows you to simply format (or even repartition if you want), without worrying about windows.old detritus.

Sorry mate, I'm just rambling on, but doing a "format" does not over-write data, just marks said data to be over-written as needed.
