I suppose I should update my score. My dinky 5.9 made a huge jump thanks to the SSD....

    Original WEI (No SSD):

    Attachment 117067

    WEI with SSD first installed:

    Attachment 117068

WEI after minor tweaking w/ SSD:

    Attachment 117069

WEI current (As of right now):

    Attachment 117070

Since my SSD is my OS drive, and in order to use the Intel SSD Manager software, I have to revert my SATA controller from the nVidia driver to the default Microsoft driver (thankfully, nothing else is on the controller), so it seems to take a hit. Also, with SP1, all my stats seem to have taken a hit....

Being a 4 generation old Core2Quad 6600 CPU, I'm only getting those numbers b/c of OC - if I had a new mobo and RAM (and PSU) to house my Core i7 965 EE, it would definitely be a different story....

The NVidia nForce 780i SLI Chipset is hard to get a SSD running well on.

The X25 M 80GB should be getting a 7.8, when you get some play mates for the i7 965, it will run much better

Hi folks, Lots of SSD recommendations on here, But I saw something I hadn't seen before today and thought I would put it up for debate as to how much this would help to get into lower to mid 7s on the WEI. This is the 1st and only 1 I have seen so only have 1 link at hand. Seagate Momentus XT 500GB Hybrid SATA-II 2.5" 7200RPM 32MB [ST95005620AS]
Would be interested to hear your thoughts.
I know this is for a Laptop but surely the principle and the price should be similar for Desktop PC's?

I believe the Momentus drives max out at 5.9, I could be mistaken? A spinning drive will always be limited. I think unless you plan it for storage, get the SSD. A Guy

This is what my stock Lenovo Ideapad Y560 rated:

Old scores btw, I ran that as soon as I unpacked the machine - hadn't updated the drivers. Overall I'm pretty happy with the laptop, zips through PCSX2 and all the games I've tossed at it handily. Speakers are quite a treat too, none of that cheap tinny-sounding crud. A bargain i7 laptop afaic. Too bad no backlit keyboard, I love gaming in the dark - it complements all those eroge very nicely indeed.

Recently my straying eyes have landed on this sweet little thing. Mmmm.

Thanks, Good to know as the Hybrid talks a big game with "SSD Performance" claims, Heed this warning folks, save a little longer for that SSD.

Great scores. Adobe CS programs love memory, how much do you have installed?
I have put four 2Gig sticks of Corsair Domminator @1066mhz i thought that should handle most render jobs but maybe not Cs5 premmier?

Well this is from my studio 1555, so the numbers are low, but still above average.
