Here's some info about readyboost, I don't know about any updates to it though.

How much system memory do you have? If it is 1 GB or more, you most likely are only seeing a placebo effect.

The only reason I saw a stick rejected was because it was too slow - especially in access time. You have to measure your stick and your disk and compare the numbers. If the access time of the stick is way over 1ms, it will not buy you much as the data transfer rate is probably many times slower than that of the disk. HD Tune is what I use for measurements. But let it run until it stoips, else you will not get the access time.

But in general, as Deacon Frost says, you will have little measurable effect with ready boost.

I am a little amazed that you are actually getting some performance improvement with the amount of RAM you have. May I suggest you make a little check. Go to the Resource Monitor > Memory Tab (you get there via Task Manager > Performance tab) - Look into the column "Hard Faults". Those would be the number of page faults you get. I bet this column shows mostly zeros meaning that nothing is being written to the page file and your stick is essentially unused. Now you have to ask yourself where the perceived performance improvement comes from.
