| | Slow speed tests Hello, Since I have installed W 7 my speed test results from DSL Reports are 1.5 Mbs. With XP they were just under 3 Mbs. I have tweaked 7 for high performance and low visual. Could it be because I only have 2 gigs of memory? It really doesn't seem any slower. In fact, it seems to run faster for the most part. Any ideas on this one? Thanks, John |

| | Been there, done that with the first link. Can't do the solid state drive. (budget issues). Scan at Crucial says I can't add more memory. Not sure I believe them, though. I was just hoping there was a tweak I missed. |

You can test by creating a new network connection using workgroup and see if it resolves the problem Workgroup uses IPv4 an older protocol. Let us know if you need help doing that. ken |

| | I know this post is a few months old. I have a download of 21.17 Mbps and upload of 3.42 Mbps with comcast as my provider. Yes, it is pretty fast. I found that some routers were slowing my speeds way down. If anyone feels their speed is slow then be sure to try a direct connect with out any router and do a speed test for free at Speakeasy - Speed Test then do one again with the router. If you notice a difference then you have now found your problem, the router. I run the Cisco Linksys BEFSR41 Version 4.3, not a wireless one. I don't need wireless but I have one if I ever needed one. |
