    stop smart panel from startup

    Hi all,
I've got a Samsung CLX2160 laser mfp and have "smart panel" installed. I only turn the printer on when required but I notice smart panel is running all the time. Is there a way to stop it from starting rather than close it through task manager each boot up?
I've tried msc.services etc and there is no function in the samsung app to disable it.
    Thanks for any help

    Welcome

Can you go to search, type msconfig>startup and uncheck. It will no longer start at boot.

Go to Add Remove programs and select your Samsung printer, it will give you the option to uninstall separate components. Smart Panel is the one to check in this case. It will remove only the items you check. You can uninstall the Smart Panel, without uninstalling the printer drivers for your Samsung printer.

Also, if you look in Task Manager/ Startup items in MSCONFIG, there would be an entry SSMMGR.EXE. That should be the one for the smart panel.

Go to Start>All Programs> Right click on Startup folder and left click Open on context menu that pops up. See if there is a shortcut to it there.

If you have CCleaner, go to the Tools. Startup tab, again see if it shows there. MSConfig should do the trick, but I know I've personally has a similar issue myself.

Many thanks for all the input

It doesn't appear in the startup folder. I've got Ccleaner and have disabled it there but it still comes back

Even if I disable it with msconfig or services.msc it still starts up again

Problem solved, have deleted the bloody thing

I've got such thing for my printer... i was able to reduce it in the taskbar in the parameters of the software, at start up...i need it for the printer config & servicing.

Can you see if you can do the same?

    Thanks Non,
Yes, it's OK to have smart panel for settings but once I had those set correctly, I've only found it useful to check toner quantity generally. I'll leave it out and either find another way to check toner or reinstall it when I see signs of poor print quality.
Thanks to everybody for their help :)
