    I suggest you to SFC/Scannow:

    SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    And you can have also this command in the properties of your Hard drive

    Computer=>(C: )=>Properties=>Tools=>Check Now=>Click OK=> At next start it will sfc/scannow files and index....for errors.

    Come back when finished and tells us what's up!

    EDIT:
    Don't you have a kind of bitorrent running in the background?

    You may aswell check in your Control Panel => Power Plan settings what's going on...before.

    Upgrades can cause all sorts of strange problems although this can easily be a driver limitation or compatiblity problem with the driver.

    With the correct drivers Windows 7 hibernation works perfectly I can assure you of that. I have a newer Sony laptop that is made for Windows 7 and the sleep mode and hibernation works flawlessly. Your best bet to to perform a clean install then track down the best possible driver.

    OK, finally after a lot of time, I found the problem. Ill write it here, sothat people, who have the same problem know how it can be fixed: While using Vista, I installed True Crypt. I forgot to update it and today I did. I looked at the changelog and there it said 'fixed a problem with hibernate mode on windows xp/vista/7. I tested it and tada it worked.

    Theres is no need of anyone pushing this thread again.
