Why desktop icons disappear and reappear again while booting up?

    I hate to tell you but the icons uploading got worse also since I installed MSE

    Gee, I was all set to answer the Defender question and I had to go to the next page and I was hit with this. If MSE is making it worse, put back your old A/V. Defender would be shut off with MSE, as it is no longer needed. Its function is taken over by MSE.

    Thanks again! You are the best!

    I booted up today, and it seemed that the icons did not disappeared at all, But I booted in over 3 mins! Not good... I pride myself in taking good care of my systems, cleanning, defragging, etc... I will review those 2 links see if I can learn something new...
    Perhaps preventing programs from starting up with windows will do the trick?

    I thought that there was some sort of conflict. If you can pin it down to which program is causing the conflict we can rememdy it.

    Ok. Thanks again... I'll keep you posted

    PS. I decided to keep Microsoft Security program for a while see how it does... Thanks again for the suggestion... Desktop icons seem more stable now...
