    Unwanted System Volume Information folder

I use an external portable hard drive for backups of my downloaded programs and system backup (not scheduled just manual backups). There is an empty folder "System Volume Information" but i can't remove it.

That probably came with the drive. And it may not be empty - just hidden files. I would not delete it.

I clicked delete all restore points for that drive and the folder emptied, but cannot delete the folder. If i rename it to something else it disappears but if i press refresh it appears again with the original name. I don't know why because i am not using System Restore and it's disabled.

Windows sticks that on every fixed drive it mounts. It's a "Protected Operating System File".

Re-hide protected operating system files (the default setting) if you wan't twant to see it but it'll show up every time you mount the drive to your windows machine.

AS stated by Fseal. This is a Windows Folder that is required and place on every fixed drive for the purposes of Shadow Copy and System Restore.

It can be deleted, but will be recreated automatically. This can not be prevented. it is required by Windows.

Even if you turn off System Restore, the folder is still created.
