Ventrilo Does Not Work

I only purchased my computer yesterday and I have been installing some applications. Yesterday I installed Ventrilo and I can't get it to work. When I connect to a server, it just doesn't respond sometimes immediately and sometimes it waits a few minutes and then stops responding. I tried setting the priority to high but no luck. Anybody else had this problem?

but i cant get ventrilo to install at all.. downloaded ventrilo mix (latest version) but when installing it syas corrupt file and delete all files. any1 who can send me proper ventrilo or tell me how ot fix this problem.?
