Automatic IE8 Privacy Tough on MS Profits

Quote from the Wall Street Journal: Microsoft Quashed Effort to Boost Online Privacy

"Microsoft built its browser so that users must deliberately turn on privacy settings every time they start up the software."

The reason: "giving automatic privacy to consumers would make it tougher for Microsoft to profit from selling online ads."

By contrast, Blackberry (RIM, Research In Motion) is facing loosing markets in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia over user privacy:

"Research In Motion is standing firmly behind its users' rights to secure communication, despite growing pressure this week from Middle Eastern governments to relax privacy protections on its BlackBerry smartphone."

If there is any reason to NOT use IE, this would be it.
Regardless of how IE works as a browser, this is ridiculous.
