Clean re-install of Windows 7 X64

Hi,

I recently had my system crash after a bad update for my graphics card and I've tried to re-install windows a number of times and have had no luck.

I have tried a few of the tutorials here and formatted my HDD to try for a new clean install. I get through the first part of the install, but once my PC reboots it keeps trying to load from the disk and then I get into windows boot manager. I try to select the start windows normally option and then I get an error message saying 'Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupt'.

I have the original windows X64 product disk. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Hi,

I had aleady done the HDD optimization without much luck, even read and followed the other tutorials

I eventually had some success late last night in getting windows running again, by removing one 2Gb memory stick and only trying to re-install with the remaining 2GB.

So it leads me to think that the second memory stick is faulty (it's only 4 months old though:sarc
Going to run memtest on it and see if I can find out what caused the problem in the first place.
