Installing Win7 & Using a TV as a Monitor

I'm just away to get an acer revo delivered, it's for my bedroom tv

it's got linux on it, but it'll get win 7 installed on to it.

now, whats the best way to install win 7 on it?

would it be better to connect it up to a monitor and install 7 from there, then connect it to the tv?

or connect to the tv and install 7? would it recognise the tv straight away as the monitor?

If the TV has a VGA in or an HDMI in either could be used, I have a 47" and both Vista and Windows 7 have never had issues durring install or detecting it after install and of late I've had access to another large TV that windows has had no issues with "plug and play" at all; even after I restore an image to the PC and after, I plug the TV in using HDMI it is detected right away.
Be sure to post back so we know how it went.

cheers, the revo & the tecknica tv both have HDMI, so hopefully i'll just install using the TV as the monitor

I've set up a few systems that way, that have used HDMI as the connection to the TV without issue. Currently, I have a Shuttle system connected to a 42" Vizio LCD by HDMI, and I can see the POST screen and BIOS as well.

i got a dual monitor hook up vga and hdmi so it should make no difference but just to be safe most hdtv's have a pc port so go through the pc port first then after win 7 installed and you installed vid drivers

connect the hdmi and then go from there should have no wories mine connected right away no issues just learning how to use two monitors is the issue

you almost don't want to use a pc monitor no more once you put it on a big tv screen lol almost like a dream display lol that would be the only hard thing the choices hahaha good luck

update:

installed win 7 as linpus linux was terrible (well, probable i'm terrible with linux)

installed it with an old crt monitor, then moved it back into the bedroom and hooked it up through HDMI, startd with no problems with display, well untill i get the right res for viewing from bed.

only problem was the wifi, it didn't work from the start (linux) got it going with win 7, but it was crap, ended up using a belkin wirelessg adaptor, but i'll be running an ethernet cable to it soon!


i also didn't delete the linux partition, just in case it went faulty, i can hopefully uninstall win7 and send back, if after a year it ok, i'll delete the partition and add it to windows (well, hopefully)
