Windows 7 reset

Evening,

Ive been having ongoing problems with Windows 7 for the past month randomly freezing in the middle of work with no apparant reason. Ive tried literally everything possible as far as i know to sort the problem with the help of people on this forum in another thread: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/111787-windows-7-freezes-3.html

Im struggling to get replies and help there anymore though so have decided im going to have to just reset the computer totally and start afresh. I basically want to wipe it clean and start again as if it's a new pc just purchased and hopefully this will fix the problem.

I know Windows 7 has reboot points but they only go back a couple weeks which isnt far enough to be before the problems began.

Windows 7 was on the system when i purchased it in Jan this year and it didnt come with a reboot cd or any microsoft codes, etc... as far as i remember.

Anychance someone could advise on the best way for me to do a total reboot please as i cant find any clear articles and dont want to risk messing it up.

If you did not get a CD, to go back to factory defaults, the way it was when you bought the computer, it is usually an fkey. It will be in your manual, if you hit a certain f key (usually f11, but not always), your computer will return to the wayit was the day you bought it. You will lose all of your documents etc, so back up.

I believe that it is the F10 hot-key to return the PC to factory conditions, like when it first came out of the box.

Be advised: doing this will remove all the changes you have made to the PC and will take the PC to a "new" state; be sure to back-up anything you need to save.

Start with the PC off, as soon as you push the power button start continually tapping the F10 key to access the "Factory Recovery Partition", just follow the prompts from there; if the first attempt doesn't seem to work try the process a couple times to make sure.

Ive reset it now and am in the process of downloading various programs i use on a regular basis again.

Since the restart i noticed a problem with I.E.
I needed to download flash player but it was saying that i couldnt because it was I.E. 64bit - i think ive sorted this now though by updating to I.E.9 beta.

There is no flash for any 64-bit internet browser, if you need to use flash you will have to use a 32-bit version.

This is my first post here. I have been having similar problems and have tried the fix that was suggested in this thread. I will not work for me. I get the screen and select enter. It then reboots as normal.

I have tried to reinstall windows. I says there is not enough free space to install. I have 878GB of free space on my C drive. It also says that there is no signed driver for my hard drive. I installed every driver in this computer to a USB drive, but it will not accept any of them.

I am trying to reinstall windows 7 X64 Pro. I have an MSI 890GXM-G65 MB and an AMD PhenomII X6 CPU and 16GB ram if that helps.

The first thing to try is to install Windows 7 with only 2GB of RAM on-board to see it that helps, it is also suggested to run Memtest86+ on each stick individually for at least one full pass to make sure there are no RAM errors.

These are just a couple ideas to try to start and will you please start a new thread HERE so you can get some help as you may not get much in this solved thread.

Thanks, I stand corrected; I haven't had the time to "play" with the IE9 Beta.

Here is how it is done on both Windows 7 or 8 or Server 2008 or R2:

Boot from any server 2008 or Windows 7 CD/DVD
Choose Repair your Computer
Choose one OS from the list
Choose Command Prompt CMD

(In the Command Prompt Box type:
cd D:\Windows\System32
(Yes it is D: on most cases because "C: Drive becomes the hidden System Partition)
If your windows is in C: Drive, type:
cd C:\Windows\System32

Now type:
move Utilman.exe Utilman.exe.bak (for auditing purposes on Servers)
It should say "One file moved"

Now type:
copy cmd.exe Utilman.exe
It should say "One file copied"

Type exit and then click on reboot. Take the CD/DVD out

Boot normally
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del
Careful now!

On the bottom left, click on the Accessibility icon.
That will call the Command Prompt Window

Type:
net user Administrator *
(Don't forget the star)

--That will ask you to type in a new password-- Twice--
Type exit
Log in on with Local Administrator's password you've just created.
All set.
