TaskBar Icons Constantly Changing My Icons For Chrome any Help?

I created a few shortcuts from chrome and added them to my Taskbar for ease of use.

I created one for each of my multiple Gmail accounts etc and I changed their icons to something so I can identify which was which. The shortcut's took the icon and worked fine for a short period than I noticed every time I click on the icon after changing the default icon to my new one It would change the icon back to Gmails default one.

Is there a way to prevent this from happening? Hope I explained it properly.

I noticed the same problem. I think the solution is to make the shortcut read only before you pin it to the task bar. I did this a few days ago and they seem to be keeping my new icon.


If you later want to unpin the shortcut from the taskbar you will need to remove the readonly check from the taskbar shortcut properties. Although it will unpin without doing this you will be left with the shortcut in the real folder and have to go there to physically delete it.
