how to open any USB flash with AUTOPLAY in WINDOWS 7?

hey,
when i insert any USB flash disk in my laptop it dont show me the autoplay screen but when i insert anything like external harddisk or cd's it runs through the autoplay, so plzzzz help meee

how can i open my usb with the autoplay?
the usb runs normaly i can open it through Computer but i want the autoplay screen to pop out when i first insert the usb rather than goin to my computer to view it :cry:

btw, it used to open the usb's b4 by autoplay but now it stoped and i dont know the reason y , so i think that f i fix it it will open back by autoplay

so plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help T-T

Autorunning any external usb device is an invitation to viruses and malware.

Malware writers are clever about infecting an autorun.inf file and then just waiting for you to reinsert the stick so that the infected file runs.

I strongly advise against auto running.

You might want to pose a question re the soundness of auto running a USB device in the System Security forum of SevenForums.

Actually the only thing you would want popping up when first plugging in any flash drive is seen by the av protection you have installed on the system in order to scan the flash drive. I plug various flash drives in here and once a drive letter is assigned through the Disk Management tool following a reformat to NTFS for some I don't expect to see anything else.

karlsnooks is quite correct on the vulnerability of the autorun.inf as well as the possible spread of bugs when transferring files between more then one system without any safety umbrella inplace. With the increased use of flash drives being seen the risk of infecting one more machine is evident when passing contaminated files along.

Speaking about finding bugs on flash drives I just had one here when going to back things up from a flash drive where some updates and other things were being stored for an old XP case. Right when reaching a setup.exe file a VIPRE alert blocked the executable automatically with a trojan alert.

It was likely an old utility file downloaded for the old build from the Asus support site but the protection still went into effect preventing the executable file from being opened during the transfer. That's another reason for not wanting the autoplay enabled. You just never know these days what can be found hidden! :eek::D
