How to delete internet explorer/ make it stop poppin up

I am using windows 7 64 bit and deleted the shortcut to internet explorer. I have tried deleting internet explorer through programs files and deleting it as administrator as well however I am unable to delete it. A pop-up comes up that reads "you require permission from TrustedInstaller to make changes to this folder". I use firefox and Internet Explorer randomly opens itself and then laggs. This is such an annoying issue. Opinions might differ about which browser is better but I am not going to use IE and would like this issue to stop. Any help is appricated.

You can turn the IE off (in Programs and Features), but you cannot uninstall it because it is an integral part of the system.

It's not in my programs and features. Any why can't I delete it? It's only a web browser
