I have Windows 7 on both my desktop and notebook computer. My desktop is a wired connection to my wireless router. My notebook is a wireless connection to the same router. When I look at the full network map, I can see all the connections. However, I cannot see or share folders using the network. I've tried using homegroups, but each computer sets up its own homegroup instead of joining/sharing a homegroup. I have drives/folders set up to share, but cannot see them from one computer to the other. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Yes, I have it all turned on. Ironically, I have a third computer with XP on it, and it will connect (with username and password) to the Windows 7 computer. It's just the 2 Windows 7 computers that won't network with each other.

Hey have you tried having the 2 boxes that dont work to the same homegroup.
when you setup the homegroup it asked you to write down a password. If you can see all the computers in discovery but cant share (and file sharing is on in both) the homegroups may not be = could I have more info? you have 1-laptop, and 2 desktops?
let me know if I can help

Yes, one laptop (Windows 7 with wireless connection), 2 desktops (Windows 7 and XP with wired connections). I tried using the same password for the homegroups, but they just create their own separate homegroups with the same password. I don't get an option to join the other homegroup, just to create one.

I've just discovered it's a firewall problem. I'm using Eset Smart Security 4, and when I turn off the firewall everything works fine. Now I have to figure out how to keep the firewall on and still see my own computers! :) Any advice would be appreciated.

I assume you have rebooted the router and all 3 pcs.
In one of the win 7 boxes in networking do you see the other win 7 box? and the xp?
ok you are using a router right? so you can go to the router web page (if its a linksys type 192.16.1.1. and hit enter). the router should have a user name and password. If you haven't changed it its usually admin/admin or admin/password. In the router web page it will list the 3 computers and their IP addresses. should be something like 192.168.1.101, 192.168.1.102,192.168.1.1. Do you see something like that?

The only way I see the other Win 7 computer is to go to Network and Sharing and look at "full map". When I try to select the other computer, I cannot. I've gone into my router settings (it's a Netgear) and I see all the connections, their IP addresses and their MAC adresses.
