2nd Monitor not working

*-*- Solved -*-* Thank you very much.

I've been trawling the internet trying to find a solution, I think I fixed part of the problem but its created another.

I have a Packard Bell iXtreme X6622UK (OS - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit)computer, with a random 19" monitor i've forgotten the name of (was with my old compaq comp). Today I bought a 19" Packard Bell monitor in an attempt to Dual Screen.

So first I was just trying to get windows 7 to recognise the monitor with no luck. Eventually I discovered if I hit the windows button + p and "extend" I could get it to detect/recognise the second monitor in the control pannel. But thats the only way, it won't detect on its own, through the control pannel-> display etcetc or the Nvidia Control Pannel (which says "set up multiple displays" not "enable multiple displays" like guides i've seen).

However the 2nd monitor says theres no signal and then goes on standby.

I just ran all the updates I have on my comp, and i've looked through some topics but i'm not really sure what to do.

Oh i'm running the second monitor on a DVI, just like the first, since there are 2 DVI conections in the back of the box. Dunno if that makes a difference.

Any advice would be really helpful.

Thank you.

Based upon your video card statistics, it looks like you have a GT320, but the pictures I saw on nVidia's website show a single DVI, a single VGA and a single HDMI. How are you connecting the second monitor, or do you have a different video card from the 320, or are you connecting one monitor to your video card and the second to your onboard graphics?

well I would use one dvi and use the vga side that could be why it isnt working even though you have two ports it might not support both dvi at the same time might just support vga dvi or even hdmi if you have it that way

I know my card is a mix between dvi adapted vga and the hdmi to the other monitor which works really well in dual mode i would try it the other way and see if it works

Sounds, like it might be I need to go through the VGA.

Now I think about it there isnt a second VGA, so the second DVI must be a HDMI.

Sorry, while I have some computer knowledge, I'm not that good at the actual hardware/software side.

I'll try and find a way to connect to the VGA and see if that works.

Thank you =3

yeah I have the same card I think. I got mixed up cos the computer I originally bought actually had 2 DVI and 2 GVA but I had to send it back cos it didnt work and then got another one which only had the one.

I bought a dvi to GVA adaptor though and plugged the second monitor in through the VGA and its all working great =3

oooo I will deffinitly have to check that out. Thanks!

I now have a new problem though =x

I'm using a waccom bamboo tablet to draw with and its picking up the two monitors. So the right half of the tablet does stuff on the right screen and the left half of the tablet does stuff on the left screen.

Is there any way to make it so it only does stuff on the right screen?

I've been trying to seach the forums and the net for an answer, but i'm having trouble thinking of search terms that will get me close to the topic.

(I can start a new thread if its easier)

Thanks.

Sorry for the late reply, I was out of town for a few days.

I've been having to turn off my second monitor to use my tablet, since I don't think its yet possible to set the tablet to only work on one monitor =x

If it picked up one monitor but not the other it wouldnt be a problem, but I have my tablet set to the corners of the screen, unfortunatly it means its the top right corners of the right screen and the left corners of the left screen.
