I have a win7 x64 computer with a geforce 260, dual dvi output. i got one hooked up to my computer monitor using dvi. and the secondary using dvi- to hdmi adaper and the hdmi cable hooked into my samsung 46" (model: LE46B530 with software version: 2009/10/07_002004). oh and i have tried with 2 different hdmi cables btw.

my samsung lcd tv shows 1920x1080p as does my computer monitor. I haven't screwed with any display settings in windows and DPI is default, as is the resolution the same on both. using dvi to vga adapter and hooked up to my tv vga port it displays everything perfectly. I have the latest nvidia drivers.

Should i just buy a new GFX hard with hdmi ports or is this mess fixable? I'm rather dissapointed since i poured in a pretty penny into this little debocle.

i added 2 pictures one of tv and the other of my computer, view settings are cloned so it shows the same on both, the tv has kind-of a "ghost picture", you see the weird white glow the letters have?

Confused. As you saying it works one way and not the other?

If so, (and assuming that the HDMI is the one having the issue) have you verified the resolution showing when using the HDMI and have you figured out if the DVI adapter you bought is actually the correct one for the video card (IOW _ are you using a 3rd party DVI to HDMI or the one that came with the card)?

i bought my card 2.5 years ago so no dvi-hdmi adapter came along with my geforce 260. but i've tried with 2 seperate dvi-hdmi adapters and the problem persists.

i've tried different settings on the tv but the picture still looks worse than using a regular vga cable with dvi adapter. the text being the most obvious part, but the whole picture is affected. a downloaded 1080p robin hood looks great on the computer but grainy on the tv.

I've seen other topics doing a google search where people where having problems, so i don't seem to be alone. if i use normal dpi settings in win7, and i have the same resolution on both computer and tv, what is the problem? defect tv? btw i updated the tv's firmware to the latest version tonight and that didn't do squat.

why does it have to be so difficult to use an hdmi cable? isn't this next step in high tech standard supposed to better things?

I use optical output from my mainboards soundcard to my logitech z5500 so the tv is solely used as a display, if i buy a new gfx card with dual dvi and an mHDMI I and then hook it up to my tv mHDMI to TV hdmi can i then turn off the sound carrying part of the signal and keep on using my optical?
