Well soon I plan on buying this beautiful 32'' Toshiba 1080p HDTVToshiba 32" 1080p LCD HDTV** (32E200U) : LCD TVs - Future Shop

Once I get my TV I want to hook up my laptop to it via HDMI, I've got a cable and an HDMI port. I want to use it for movie watching and gaming. Do you think when I play games on the big screen will I notice any lag will it be just like playing console games ?

There is always a slight lag... it may be .0001 of a second or .5 of a second.... It all depends on the way your tv processes the signal... Some tvs offer a game mode that reduces the quality slightly and cuts down on how much it processes the signal.

Many TVs account for the lag. Others have settings to adjust the lag. Some TVs have no way to adjust for this and you will have to change out cables until you get one that works best for your situation.

Or

You can divide the sound and video using the audio out on the computer and using the TVs RCA input jacks for the audio. Most TVs will work without lag this way. But if you do get lag then you can add more cable to the audio side until the lag goes away.

You will be running at 60hz refresh rate. For gaming 75hz+ is preferred. Oh and the input lag...that too.
