I guess this is a driver problem

Okay, so basically a while back I added a second hard drive to my computer and installed Linux Ubuntu to it. For the longest time I happily booted to either Windows 7, or Ubuntu at will. However, after a while, I found myself using Windows less and less. Just recently, I booted into Windows for the first time in a while, and I am very upset to find that it will not read any USB devices besides my mouse, keyboard, and printer. For some reason, the speakers, and any other USB device will not work. I have had Windows search for drivers, and it found them, but it said it could not install them. This is really frustrating me to the point that I really really really wish I didn't need to use windows right now. All I want to be able to do is listen to some music, and transfer the music to an iPod.

Any help?

I filled in a bit more of my system specs. However, the site your provided me with does not help with the problem. I have actually found out that the drivers for the ipods work, but not my speakers, my usb flashdrive, or usb sd card reader. I really just want this to work... Ugg...

Have you tried a system restore or Repair?

What about a windows update?

I've tried system restore with no result, and I've already done all of my updates with no effect. System repair is yet to be tried. I suppose I shall go to that next.

Okay guys, I am at the point where I guess I will have to just reinstall Windows. It refuses to install any drivers. Any other help before I go through the trouble of reinstalling 7?

One other thing possibly to try. A bit of a 50/50 to take the time to try this or just do the repair install.
Run this up to three times to fix registry. One pass won't do it. A window comes up says it can't repair all so run it again.

Like I said they may accomplish the same result for the most part for your purpose.

have you tried rebooting the windows install? sometimes my usb plays up and a reboot fixes it.
