Hello.

I recently installed Windows 7 on my HP Pavilion 9925nr(HP Pavilion dv9925nr Entertainment Notebook PC ) and it seems like everything is flawless except the audio driver.
Sound works just fine, volume is good, even the quick volume control buttons work without me installing any drivers, however I encountered the following problems:
1. built in mic does no longer work, it doesn't appear in device manager nor in Recording Devices
2. I just realized that the quick mute button no longer colors orange when sound is muted, it remains blue

Audio driver used when I had vista 64:
TITLE: Conexant HD-Audio SmartAudio 221

VERSION: 4.31.1.0 Rev. A
DESCRIPTION:
Venice audio driver 32 & 64 bits combined (version : 4.26.0.0)
Hermosa audio driver 32 & 64 bits combined (version : 4.31.1.0)

PURPOSE: Routine Release
SOFTPAQ NUMBER: SP37816
EFFECTIVE DATE: November 9, 2007
CATEGORY: Audio
SSM SUPPORTED: Yes

ENHANCEMENTS:
Venice & Hermosa combine drivers
Venice audio driver 32 & 64 bits combined (version :4.26.0.0)
Hermosa audio driver 32 & 64 bits combined (4.31.1.0)

FIXES:
1. Hermosa and Venice combined driver.
2. Fixed Mute button LED will change Red from Blue quickly during s3/s4

I tryed finding a newer version of this driver but I had no luck.
Thanks!

Go look at HP's site, there is a newer driver there and it works for me. The mute led also turns orange. Conexant High-Definition Audio Driver*
If you're using 64-bit you'll have to hit F8 every time Windows starts and select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" because silly Conexant didn't sign the driver properly.

Not that the built-in mic would be any use, its volume is so low and there is no boost available. Using an external mic works fine.

I've found a couple drivers from Acer and Asus that do have boost, but the mic does not work at all with those - it appears but the meters do not move and i can't hear myself at all. I'm still working on it...

I've the same model. Did you do anything special to get you quicktouch buttons working? I've heard other's with problems. What about your remote? I want to upgrade but i'm trying to find some first hand knowledge before I do. Any info/tips would be welcomed.

Touch controls working without any driver installed, as for the remote, you need the ENE CIR Receiver driver from HP. Other than that it's all smooth.

Check this: QuickPlay Remapper home page and this: Notebook Forums and Laptop Discussion - View Single Post - !!!! I have MIC BOOST working on CONEXANT HERMOSA AUDIO!!! Modified driver with all the microphone boost you will need, courtesy of yours truly.

Everything you need. :) But please take my word for it and install the 64-bit version of Win7.

Had the same problem!

After installing Windows 7 on HP Pavillion dv 9925 nr (dv 9700 series) microphone didn't work. Installing different audio drivers didn't help. The problem was solved by Windows Update (You need to choose updates from OPTIONAL UPDATES!!!).
