PowerPoint 2007 not storing recently opened files

debdutta

New member
I have several files to open in a single day but PowerPoint 2007 isnt storing recently opened documents, it used to do before just noticed the problem today morning and now its almost night (according to my time zone), it was a hard time locating my presentations all over my hard discs.

One more thing I also use CCleaner, Tune-up Utilities, Auslogics Boost Speed, Ashampoo 7 to clean up junk, is it has to do anything with recently opened documents cause i dont check the option to clean office 2007 opened files in CCleaner.

Pls help.

Perhaps you could speak to the Administrator of your system and ask to have the policy lifted for you.

I use Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 and definitions are up to date, I also used Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware but it didn't find anything. I also checked user account settings and it says I have administrative rights (this computer has only one user account). Is there any way of fixing these problems using Registry Editor or Group Policy or anything else ?

When you open a file, then touch the Office Button on the top left-hand side, does the document which you have open show on the right where recent/current files should be listed?

If it does, try touching the "Pin this document to the list" to show the green pin-head. Then still keeping the document open, go to PowerPoint Options and see if the option is no longer greyed-out. If it's not, select the number of files you wish to retain in the list. Sorry, I know it's a long-shot, but I am running out of ideas.

No its not listed at all, its not just PowerPoint but also Word and others office apps which uses the office button I suspect.

As Bugmeister suggested earlier, you could try running Office Diagnostics. I know you said that it was disabled, however perhaps you can access it as follows:

You can run Office Diagnostics from the Start menu.
  • In Windows, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Office, point to Microsoft Office Tools, and then click Microsoft Office Diagnostics.
Hopefully that will work. :)

EDIT:
Another possibility: Right Click on a bit of space on your task bar, select properties, Select Start Menu.
