can't listen to onlline radio or live streaming

Hello guys. It is my first post and hope to find some help with my laptop sound problem. The last 3 days i can't listen to live streaming such as online radio or online tv etc.. I try to install again the google chrome, i install again the wmp firefox plugin on my chrome, i install the java again but nothing. What could be the issue for this sound problem? Thank you guys for any help.

yes, everything else works fine such as youtube and music on my laptop but not on the online radio stations... :s

First thing to consider... many of these radio stations use Flash, so make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.

Are you using the 64 bit version of IE or??? If yes, try the 32 bit version... there are some "issues" with Flash and IE64.

You dont have any other apps open at the time monopolizing the speakers do you?

Pandora does not use plug-ins and I want to see if it's a plug-in issue.

Feel free to call me an idiot if you think I'm stupid offering so simple possible solution, but this could be one of those issues where theory of Occam's Razor apply.

According to your problem description, only sounds you don't get are those of a browser. Have you checked that you are not accidentally muted your browser?

i have a fresh install of win7 x64 after my hard drive died, and with no additional codecs I am (after reading this thread) listening to internet radio right now through media player. Can you confirm you are trying to use the links supplied by clicking on media guide button in the bottom left corner of wmp, then selecting internet radio?

Hello all newbie on win7 x64 here.
Had the same problem since last night.
No radio stream at all what so ever... youtube was fine though.

Check if your internet explorer is in offline mode.

That was the case with me.
Problem solved hope it works for u as well.

I have found that some web sites with audio will not work if you don't allow everything on the page. That includes the cookies. In Firefox, if you have NoScript installed, you can temp allow everything on the page.

I don't know why not allowing cookies limits the audio on some pages, but that's the way it is.

More then likely it's one item being blocked that you can't see is being blocked.

Hello All,
I've had this problem a couple of times in the past and have been able to fix it by doing the following.
In the user profile \AppData\Local\Microsoft folder there is a folder called "Media Player"
I deleted this folder and when I tried to stream again the folder was automatically re-created and the problem was fixed.

simple solution to radio streaming without sound

I tried all the routine tasks, such as clearing the cache, running virus/malware scans, etc. Finally, I searched the "Help" section, included with Windows 7. Despite using VLC Player as my default media player, I discovered that in Windows Media Player, the "streaming" option had been set in the "off" position, before I bought/installed my desktop. Once "streaming" was turned on in Windows Media Player, the problem was fixed. I hope this helps.
