Hi guys,
i'd like to know your opinion on registry and disk cleaning, right now, i'm using CCleaner, Wise registry cleaner and Wise disk cleaner, they're pretty good, but i guess not the best..
what do you use? what is a good option to maintain my system?

cheers

In my opinion the best way you could possibly maintain your systems health would be leave the registry alone
Why would I say that:
Well for once, even if the registry contains unused/leftover keys it doesn't hurt anything. They wouldn't slow down your system or anything.
On the other hand you could do harm if your program of choice deletes the wrong key for whatever reason.

That is my humble opinion but it's not my place to tell you what to do. Just make sure that you have a reliable backup/restore point whenever you mess with the registry for that's the one point where you could ruin a good installation with just one or two clicks ;)

Agreed, leave the registry alone, and use Auslogics Disk Defrag for the best hard drive optimization.

Yes. I have had a bad experience with Norton 360 registry cleaner so I won't run any now.

I use the built in Windows Disk CleanUp and Windows Defragger on my Win7. That is it.

Made my Windows System Image and a Macrium Image.

If you really want to run a Registry cleaner. The only one I recommend allowing the registry to be cleaned is through

What's new - Windows Live OneCare safety scanner for Windows Vista and Windows 7

But I do not know if the registry cleaner is part of this for 7. I do know that it is part of the XP side of the cleaner. But you can not run that one on 7.

So, you can try that, and if the reg cleaner is in there, it will do it for you and is the only recommended one to use.

However, if you do know what you are doing.

But, you are on your own if you mess up your system trying to mess with the Registry.
is CCleaner.

Again, You are on your own and have been warned about messing with the registry and registry cleaners.

Also, as for defrag. Windows 7's built in defrag is all you need.
If you try running a different defrag and do not (which most people don't) turn off the background defrag in windows, your system will be working overtime trying to keep the system defragged the way Windows wants it. There really isn't much use for a third party defrag unless you use it to defrag individual large files.

I see, i never knew messing around with registry is that dangerous,
there are lots of registry and disk cleanup tools on the net, guess they're there just for commercial purposes.

well, thanks for all the advices, i'll stick with Windows built-in Cleanup and disk defrager...

Thanks all
