Very weird problem 64 & 32 bit

Apologies if this is the wrong section on which to start this thread. Still new to this forum and just joined out of desperation.

I decided to give a try at Windows 7. Looked up Microsoft W7 site, and downloaded the 64-bit version.

I'm VERY sure that I downloaded the x64, as the filename says:

7100.0.090421-1700_x64fre_client_en-us_retail_ultimate-grc1culxfrer_en_dvd.iso

(I checked the 32-bit filename to make sure, which says x86, so very sure)

Installed without a hitch, and upon first bootup, I proceeded to install my newly downloaded 64-bit drivers (nForce, nVIDIA Forceware etc..) and to my surprise it reported that I'm not running the 64-bit OS.

I checked system properties, and it reports:

System Type: 32-bit Operating System

I reapplied for another CD-Key to make sure that I was using 64, and reinstalled from scratch (3 times)

Windows 7 still reporting 32-bit. I have looked all over the net looking for someone with the same issue, but I simply cannot find anyone complaning about it.

CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q9550
M/B: Asus Striker II Extreme

(so yeah, pretty sure my system IS 64-bit)

Anyone has any ideas? This thing is driving me nuts as it's not making any sense, unless Microsoft screwed up the versions on download page.

Yes your right something not right here...

Size of my iso downloaded from MS is: 3,270,828,032 bytes (which is the same)

7100.0.090421-1700_x64fre_client_en-us_retail_ultimate-grc1culxfrer_en_dvd

Strange indeed!!

Did you ever knowingly download the 32bit version and burn it to DVD?

Nah ... today it's the first time I ever touched Win7.

I'm very very sure it's the 64 bit version i downloaded, however I'm noticing something strange.

First, it's always referring to itself as Beta, instead of RC.

And it's Copyrighted Microsoft 2008 not 2009. Smells like an old build named as a new one to me. Could you verify what's your dated in system properties?

Thanks
