Nvidia GT 430 and Samsung LCD TV

Hi all,

I'm having a problem that may be related to my TV and not the video card, but I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced a similar situation.

I have a PC with Win7 x86 hooked up to my Samsung LCD TV with a DVI to HDMI cable. I cannot seem to get the TV to think there is a signal coming from the PC when I switch through the inputs. It sits there for a moment or two and then moves on to the next input.

If I go to the HDMI input there my cable box is connected and then swap the cables it works just fine. (It also works if I start with the cable box in the PC input and then swap to the PC, so it's not a bad input on the TV)

However, after being able to see the PC input on the TV, if I switch away from that input, I can't get back to it without performing the "trick"

Any suggestions?

Would using a straight HDMI cable work better?

I think a HDMI to HDMI is your best bet. It makes sense to start and end with the same connector.

Which I think you have about come to this conclusion yourself.

Since you didn't post a Model # of TV this picture is just for reference.
This one would be DVI to DVI if using that option.

I would check here and get the manual.
Samsung#

Actually it should work DVI to HDMI on some Samsung TV's anyway. Top hook up in picture.

I'll try using the HDMI cable from my cable box to see how that works out.

Sorry for the no model number on the TV, I'm not near the TV and was too lazy to run get it.

Then you pick the source with the remote.

This Snip of a Samsung manual not yours necessarily you pick the source.

Could be up to four HDMI or the DVI. I'm not sure so you will have to try them until you find it.

Best I can do with the info on hand.

OK, So I finally crawled back behind the TV to remind myself what model I have.

It's a Samsung LN-T4665F

I played around with some of the settings in the menu and no luck. With my model I can't select the input directly. It only allow me to cycle through the available inputs and it refuses to see that the PC (HDMI1) is a valid input when the signal is connected.

I have not been able to try the HDMI cable yet because the one I have has too much extra plastic around it to go into the port on the PC because of mechanical interference with the case I'm using. So, I either need to buy a smaller cable and return it if it doesn't work for me or modify the case. (Time to get the Dremel humming ;))

I just looked on Samsung for your model and HDMI-1 is what it is to be plugged into.

I noticed that the Menu on the remote might be search thru. You did push ENTER after finding HDMI-1 on the remote?

HDMI cable is next if you wish to go that route.

Hopalong X

THanks for all of the suggestions. Unfortunately on my TV when you select "source" is does not bring up a list of choices, it simply goes to the next one in "order." However, if it doesn't "see" that sonething is connected it will skip to the next input source.

Odd thing is that I had this all working perfectly with an old PC and graphics card (Nvidia 6400 if memory serves me) and I upgrated to a new PC and video card since the old PC died. So, there is something different about hos the GT 430 is handling it's signal output. Seems to me like it is disabling the output because it is sensing that the TV is not "accepting" it. (I know that sounds totally bizzare, but the behavior I'm observing seems to indicate that.)

I got you on the source menu now. They didn't mention that in the manual. LOL

I'm out of guesses except HDMI to HDMI.
The manual does not show this set up but HDMI on PC's/video cards is a relative new item for 2010 video cards.
The option was probably not available yet when the TV was made. So why print it in the manual.
