System won't hibernate

Hibernate used to work fine on my machine, but a few days ago my computer suddenly stopped being able to hibernate.

When I try to hibernate, the screen goes black and nothing happens. If I move the mouse using my laptop's touchpad, the computer returns to the login screen as if I enabled the screensaver instead of hibernating.

What else can I try to fix the hibernation issue? I haven't changed any BIOS settings in the last couple of weeks as far as I can recall.

Do you mean C:\hiberfil.sys? Yes, I can see that file in WinDirStat. Its size is about 2.2GB.

Try recreating that hibernation file in case it if its gone corrupt.
In an elevated command prompt type 'powercfg -h off' and then 'powercfg -h on' and make sure 'Allow hybrid sleep' option is off under advanced settings of active power plan.

Alas, Windows still won't suspend to my hard drive. I verified that hiberfil.sys was gone after doing powercfg -h off and that it reappeared when I did powercfg -h on.

I set my system language for English for your convenience. I also had a look at your link, which seems to imply that this problem could be related to the bootloader. Perhaps it's good to know that my computer runs in dualboot with openSUSE using a GRUB bootloader.
