I mean it seems more responsive when switching windows for examples. Did MS make any improvements on the performance side with SP1 ?

first thing in mind was placebo effect... but no, I made a clean installation and straight install of the SP1, after sometime I was thinking "hmm seems snappier" while using explorer and installing some programs.

kudos to Microsoft, i prefer performance boost than new useless features.

Make sure then to clean up the SP install (if not on a clean system) to reduce the disk footprint as well. I would guess there are a few areas of code cleanup in the updates SP1 brings to the table, so this is not surprising.
