Hi, we upgraded from sbs2003 server to sbs2008 server. We removed the pc from the old domain and then added it to the new domain. Something went wrong after we joined the new domain it doesn't see the new domain for login and the local Administrator account has been disabled. The only account available is the guest account. Is there a way to enable the local administrator account again?

You can try this but without any slides or full explanation.. I don't know....

If you can go into a user account with administration rights than you can go into command prompt and type:

Note: elevate the dos command to admin

net user administrator /active:yes

If you cannot log into an admin account: than you have to boot into dos from a bootable CD

That is normal. Just as Windows 7's Local Admin account is disable; so is Server 2008 or 2008 R2 on a Domain.

You can change the Domain Policy and enable the local Admin account,

OR

Follow acurasd advice and re-enable the local admin account. -WS

Hi,

Restart the system in safe mode, then select repair option then select restore option. select the date before you added the system into domain. Change the system name and added the system into domain. After that the problem will be solved.

Ameer, this thread is 4 months old, I am sure he got it working or the thread would be active. No need to revive 4 month old threads. Thanks for your help
