Installing build 7260 as an upgrade to 7231

Apologize if this has already been answered but I didn't see it in the forums ...

I'm running 32-bit build 7231 and want to upgrade to 7260. Yeah, I know that a clean install is preferred, but I want to test out the upgrade instead.

When I go to install it from the existing build, it complains about the version. So, I went into the cversion.ini file and change MinClient to 7000, thinking that would fix it. But it still complains.

So, is there more to it than that? OR is it that this build simply can't be installed as an upgrade?

See if this will do it, put 7260 in your dvd drive within your 7231 win7 and right click to bring up properties and then change compatability mode to vista sp3 then exit out and restart your pc and try to run the upgrade again but skip looking for install updates. hope this helps.

Since I've already copied the DVD files to a directory on my hard drive, can I simply make that change to setup.exe on the hard drive instead?

Not sure about that Mark as that is not the way I upgraded. Plus my upgrade was from 7229x86 to 7260x86. I used the tut here in sf to copy and install from a usb stick and then proceded to do the upgrade from that. Hope that you are having some luck with this upgrade. lm

I made the change to the ini file, and marked setup.exe with Vista SP2 compatibility -- and it upgrades just fine!
