I'm new to slipstreaming and my question isn't really how to slipstream (there are great tutorials here I've been reading) but rather if it's possible to copy the drivers from my W7 DVD to essentially make XP installable on newer hardware and capable of detecting with newer hardware and devices.

Is this possible? If this has already been done and released as a distro what should I google since I am not having any luck today?

Hello there, welcome to the forums.

I don't think that's possible because Windows XP and Windows 7 drivers are not backwards compatible (even though you could try to install a XP driver in Windows 7 with "compatibility mode" but this is not the case)

You'll need Windows XP drivers for your respective devices, sorry to bring the bad news :(
