Network Error 0x80070035 - Win7 64 accessing its OWN shares

I just set up a new Win 7 64 bit system to replace my old desktop. I've been running Win 7 32 for quite a while and have never had trouble with networking per se, until now.

I've set up the sharing, etc. the way I usually do. Network Discovery, file sharing, etc. are all turned on with no password. All PCs are part of the same workgroup.

I have several shares on this new machine that my other computers can access just fine. However, the local PC cannot access its own shares. I get the 0x80070035 error. Bizarre.

As I said, I have set up sharing on all these machines more than once. It always works fine. Even accessing its own shares. But not this one. And the only difference I can spot is that this machine is 64bit, which I wouldn't think would have any bearing on this.

I have specific reasons for the local PC to be able to access its own shares. I have no workaround. It has to be able to do this or some of my software will not function properly. I have to be able to map drives locally and also set up paths to folders that other computers will use. So, they have to be network paths, not local paths. And the software is aware that the path is not available locally. I can't fool it.

Can anyone get me pointed in the right direction on this?

Thanks!
Matt

Hi,

Are you using Norton Firewall by any chance? Were you using that on your older 32 bit system too?

Golden

Side note: I'm having a lot of trouble with the forum. In Chrome the page just keeps refreshing over and over. In IE, it keeps asking me to log in. I give it my login info, it says thanks for logging in and then goes back tot he login screen. Finally got Chrome to work after quickly clicking on reply between refreshes.

Anyway... No, I'm not using Norton. I have MS Security Essentials on all the machines in my house. 4 other computers running Win 7 32 all talk to each other just fine with what appears to be the exact same settings. And they can even talk to this machine. But, it can't access itself. Oh, just realized it can't access shares on other computers either. I would have sworn it could do that. I guess not.

So, it looks like it accepts incoming network connections. But doesn't allow itself to access any shares.

Thanks!

Mmmm....the only thing I can think of for the moment is to check File and printer Sharing as per image below.

From what I have read this problem is usually caused from having too many 6 to4 tunnel adaptors which is a big problem lately.

You should run this tunnel adaptor remover first. Too many of these indicates a driver problem and it will also ruin your connection if there are too many of those tunnel adaptors. This problem happens all the time. Click and save the zip file, then run the zip file and reboot.

Just use Tunnel Adapter – Microsoft 6to4 adapter Remover
http://www.sordum.com/deneme/6to4/do...to4remover.zip

Or you can try using this command line to remove them.
devcon remove @ROOT\*6TO4MP\*

After rebooting if you are still having problems please post your ipconfig /all here and we can go from there.

Turns out I just had to disable file and printer sharing, restart and then turn it back on again. Works fine now. Go figure! One of those Windows glitches we all know and love! LOL!

Thanks for the help!
