I'm having trouble running a video-intensive software (xtranormal state) on my laptop. The DxDiag reports

Code:
Dedicated Memory: 64 MB
Shared Memory: 1632 MB

I have 4 gigs of ram, so I thought that would give me enough processing power, but what I posted above is the only thing that seems to be low. Does the dedicated memory just too low, or is the shared memory what I should be looking at?

Thanks.

In your case, the dedicated memory is for your video chip on your motherboard. It has 64 MB of RAM all to itself, and it will, if necessary, use up to 1632 MB system RAM, however system RAM is significantly slower than graphics RAM thus helps very little.

Essentially, there's not much you can do since it's a laptop. None of the HP ProBooks are capable of heavy graphics apps. The EliteBooks would do a better job of it, but you're looking at a good $1500 to get comfortable.

If you need a laptop from HP that plays well with graphics intensive apps, the HP Envy series will do you much better.
