Hey,
I've bought a blank machine from Overclockers UK (the Primo Ignition) and I downloaded a copy of windows 7 from the MDSNAA, when I tried installing it from DVD or USB drive I get the same error which is "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing."
Please can somebody help me with this error.
The machine is brand new and has had no previous OSs on it.
Thanks

Your dvd drive needs a driver. ask where you bought the machine what kind of dvd it is find and download the driver. while installing it will give you the option of installing third party drivers. I*nstall it then.

That would be the SATA controller driver which is almost always already in the Win7 installer. You can check for firmware upgrade for DVD drive if it is really old.

More likely you have a bad download or DVD burn. Try first burning a new DVD using ImgBurn at 4x speed with Verify.

Next try checking the HASH against official MSDN hash: Windows 7 ISO Downloads and Product Keys Live in MSDN TechNet » My Digital Life. You may need to re-download, as just happened here yesterday.

Finally, try installing from USB stick to rule out DVD drive: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/31541-windows-7-usb-dvd-download-tool.html?filter[2]=General%20Tips

Yeh it was, the lovely IT guys at my Uni burned a copy and works fine, until i need to select the drive on which to install windows 7 where it now thinks there are no hardrives

Have you used it to install successfully before, so that you know it is a good DVD?

What was the result of the HASH check?

Do you have a flash stick to try install? Extract ISO using ImgBurn, install UltraISO trial version, on File tab Open ISO, on Bootable tab Write Disk Image, Format, Write to stick. Boot under USB or HD's.

If this doesn't help, you can try inserting the SATA controller for your model computer at the Load Drivers prompt on "Where do you want to install Windows" screen.
