Hi i am considering signing up to virgin medias 50meg broadband I am quite a heavy downloader varying from streaming, gaming, downloading through steam etc, and also usenet. Now im curious is there any one out there that is on this plan that gets through over 500 gig in a week? If so did you get any trouble off virgin or were they ok with it Cheers

I seriously doubt you will be able to. The rated service from virgin is not always the real world speeds you may get.

Usenet has some overhead as do the other formats and a good rule of thumb is to expect half the rated speed from an ISP so you dont get dis-appointed.

Where would you store that much? How much memory is on your computer? Other factors will come into play.

Post edit. I just saw your system specs and with 3 gigs of ram, and a single celeron, you wouldn't be able to use the machine for anything else, downloading at that speed. (if you could).

Lol i have a fair few systems running on this, i know the hardrive would be the biggest problem. let me change my question a bit.

Even though virgin say unlimited downloads & no throttling. What would you say the monthly limit is before they do cap you?

And i'm a gaming addict, lots of demos, streaming and eadm, gog, bit on steam, plus like i say a couple systems in the house. also my dad visits at weekend and dont know what he does but my router says lots is coming down... I should probably look into that lol.
