Hey all, sorry this has to be my first post here but I'm a bit desperate.
BACKSTORY: About a week ago, I encountered a problem similar to the one I'm having now. My computer started up fine, logged in fine, but once I got to the desktop everything tanked. I couldn't open anything in under two minutes or so (that's before I'd get a response). I did some digging, and ended up finding that searchindexer.exe was reading/writing about 1,000,000 B/sec, so I permanently disabled it.
NOW: Startup and login screen are fine. I get to the desktop and everything looks happy, but then I try to open anything and it takes ages (minutes until I get a response). If I pester the system by re-clicking, or trying to open something smaller (like an image), or if I try to go to control panel I often crash the computer. I've looked through the Resource Monitor for anything odd, but I haven't seen anything that I think could mess with my computer on this scale. Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc) under the System tab turned up quite a few errors today, but I assume that's from the number of hard reboots I've had to do. Mostly the errors are from Service Control Manager, NetBT, or DistributedCOM. However, the computer does not have internet (using another to post this). Finally, performance report turned up close to nothing drastic either.
I'm sorry I took so long to describe this, but I hope someone could help me out. Thanks so much,
