Hello to all members!

I have MSI CX600 and I am getting random restarts on my laptop - it always happens when sharing my LAN connection with my friend. I assume that the problem is somewhere in Wireless drivers, but after reinstalling them, the problem hasn't gone away.

There are lot minidumps attached, and some of them are pretty much the same - they're giving the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL bug, but after cleaning and installing Wireless driver it seems that Windows is generating DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE bug.

So, is there a solution for this?

A glance at the dumps suggest ESET is the cause. I've never seen the latest version of ESET cause a BSOD before, so this is a little surprising to me. Try removing ESET completely, and installing MSE: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials

While I prefer ESET over MSE, that will help us troubleshoot this problem.

Also, install SP1: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/learn-how-to-install-windows-7-service-pack-1-sp1

Hello again,

I followed your instructions and the problem I had with restarting disappeared.

But, now I am facing with another strange behavior of my laptop - it simply freezes 2-5 seconds when opening browser, browsing some sites (especially YouTube where generates some strange noise when playing videos), opening My Computer etc...

There are no viruses/spyware/malware located, as my laptop has a new installation of Windows 7.

Also, the system generated another minidump on 3/5/2011 - DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE caused by halmacpi.dll and ntkrnlpa.exe. See attached file. I really don't know what to do, so any help would be appreciated.

If you can, turn off the wireless card via the little switch on the side of the laptop, and then use the ethernet instead.

Remove Connectify for now; you can install it again later.

As for the freezing issues:

Uninstall Daemon Tools as it uses SPTD. Remove SPTD itself with this tool: http://www.duplexsecure.com/download/SPTDinst-v177-x64.exe

Install the "Catalyst Control Center" from here: ATI Catalyst

Uhm.. this is getting worse and worse - after following your instructions, system is freezing more and more. Firefox is now freezing on every page, not just on YouTube. I assume that there is some problem with memory or maybe wireless driver?

Try creating a Live Ubuntu CD, and then booting into "Try Ubuntu with no changes". See if the crashes persist there.
