synchronise Windows Mail message folders?

This might sound a silly question but, I have a dual boot win 7 system with 64 bit on one drive and 32 bit on the other.(for older programs).
I have successfully re-established Windows Mail on both and would really like to be able to synchronise the message folders so that they are both updated whichever boot I am in.

It is a home PC situation, no network involved, although I have a wireless LAN which links in a notebook and The Sony TV dongle.

Is it possible to directly sync between the message folders? Or must I build a small network and put the files there?

Hope this doesn't make someone fall out of their chair laughing.

Even if you build a network, I don't see how two instances of WLM can use the same folders unless they are all at the email server. That's why IMAP was created. All the mail folders that you want to be the same even when used by more than one PC must be on the email service provider's web server. Then each email program logged in to the server with the same credentials will be using the same folders (the ones on the server). The email program syncs it's IMAP accounts with what is on the server.

It's unfortunate that Microsoft chose to use the word "sync" when they mean "send and receive". There is no syncing involved.

Thanks roncerr.

Much as I suspected. Unfortunately, I am on a pop3 service, which I believe is not set up the same.

I have placed the same folders in each boot drive, but at the moment, it is recognising the PC as one drive, so I don't get a second download of emails as I do when I link in my notebook. I have it set for fifty emails on the server, if I swap boot regularly, it should download what I have missed to iether drive but, not quite there yet.
May have to use thunderbird on one.

I assume that with pop3 you have WLM set to "leave a copy on server".

Yes roncerr.

I am not quite out of the woods yet. I had to download a couple of hotfixes from MS to ensure my ancient Outlook (office XP) will act as a go between to get my files where I want them, as I have some in Windows Live Mail, some in Thunderbird and some left from the days when Win Mail was acceptable.

Still hitting problems on transferring, mostly because of Outlook sending in the wrong format. But getting there.

About to try Win4mail transfer but, reluctant to pay for it.

Thanks roncerr

Just tried that but something went wrong and I got an import from Outlook when I was wanting to archive what I already had.
Multiple folders in winmail are a complete pain.

...Multiple folders in winmail are a complete pain...
In my case I was able to forward all mail from another account to one main account, so I have only one set of pop3 folders, all under the single pop3 account.

I understand I must not delete the account without first moving the folders I want to save to the "Storage Folder" area since everything listed under the account would be deleted with it.
