HP 6500 - Windows 7 Only Cancel Button at Clt+Alt+Del

Hi,

On My X201 Tablet Laptops i have installed driver disc for the HP Officejet 6500 Printer.

As soon as version 14.00 of the driver is installed on the machine upon restart rather than a username to click onto to login at Clt+Alt+Del a cancel button is displayed.

I Can restart in Safe mode and remove the driver but it still has the issue.

is there anyway i can fix this?

Not sure I completely understand your problem but I have the same printer and my HP laptop would not allow me to install it's drivers and other software. After spending an hour on the phone with tech support and allowing them to take control of my computer to fix the problem they tried editing the Windows Registry with no success. They told me they would further investigate my problem and get back to me. While waiting on them I decided editing the registry could get pretty complicated so I went ahead and re-installed the Operating System. This fixed my problem. Good luck.

the driver installs ok, and you can print but as soon as your restart you can't login to the laptop again.

You just get CANCEL rather than a Picture or a Username Box.

That's a new one! One thing I've learned is these computers can be quirky at times.If nothing else works I would still re-install the Operating System.
