Confusion Therapist
Don't know if anyone has come across the site called RemoveVirus.*** and I haven't put the link in just in case it's a threat itself.

But it goes on for several pages of security suites that have GUI's that look awfully similar to ones we use - one looks very much like the Kaspersky ISS and another the AVG.

Does anyone know of this site and if it's genuine then it would be a good reference for folks looking for a good security site and NOT download any of the ones listed.

I went to the site and it seems to be genuine but at any rate I always download my software from the manufactures site and no off shoots to be safe. As for the site itself it looks safe none of my software is there and didn't send off any alerts as the site itself being bad...

Thanks you folks - yes I always go to the official site I was just concerned that some poor unsuspecting individual might just be taken in by them as they do look alike.

Plus I was taking in the number of pondlives around at the moment, - just spent some time in getting rid of some stuff on a used machine that I suspect the previous owner had downloaded that included a rootkit (heaps of porn site cookies had to be cleared).
